North Carolina Aquarium Featuring 9-feet Long Sharks!

North Carolina Aquarium's Best Exhibit: Sand Tiger Sharks!

North Carolina aquarium features 3 sand tiger sharks in the Living Shipwreck exhibit. Have you seen a sand tiger shark before? If you are an avid Discovery Channel viewer, you must have seen them already. Discovery Channel recently features the 3 sharks at the North Carolina aquarium. They shot at the aquarium one night to study the behavior of sharks when in darkness. I treated my nieces to a day at this exhibit and I enjoyed that day because even I learned a thing or two about this species.

We learned that these sharks belong to 1 of 25 species of sharks that go to the shores of North Carolina. They can be found at the wreck of Papoose down the coast of North Carolina. Professional scuba divers and photographers get excited with the sight of 9-feet long sharks while they are swimming with them. It’s only now that I discovered that sharks aren’t as ferocious as what Hollywood movies made them appear to be.

When divers and underwater photographers swim with sand tiger sharks, the sharks don’t naturally get angry and eat the divers. We can be close to a few feet away and we will be very safe swimming with them. As long as just move slowly and swim as smoothly as how they swim, they will not harm us. The only times they harm people is when people have open wounds. The smell of the blood makes a person a target for them. You should really see one of the sand tiger sharks on display at North Carolina aquariums.

My nieces had the best day of their lives at the aquarium. Living Shipwreck is their favorite exhibit. They learned that big sharks eat small fishes. They saw the aquarium keepers feeding the sharks. It is just amazing seeing them being fed. It’s as if you you’re under the sea too. Although it’s safe to swim with the sharks on open waters, it is very expensive to learn scuba diving or underwater photography.

Shore is one of the best places I took my nieces too. I’m sure that we will return because we spent almost half the day at the Living Shipwreck display and so we weren’t able to check other exhibits at the aquarium. But that’s okay because we can always get in for a reduced price. I discovered these North Carolina aquarium coupons that will get us in for discounted price. We will surely be there in a few weeks.
